Because sports should be accessible for everyone

I strongly believe that surfing should be accessible to everyone, regardless of background, ability or circumstances. I feel privileged to be in a position where I can use my voice and platform to help make this a reality. Being able to sit down with municipalities and organisations, share ideas and create opportunities, as well as having a reach through the media, gives me the opportunity to bring this important message to a wider audience. I see it as a responsibility and a privilege to use these opportunities to help make surfing more inclusive and accessible for all.

I'm proud to be ambassador for the Ride the Wave Project. A unique surfing program for young people between the ages of 14 and 23 from families with a low income. The aim of the project is to have fun and learn to surf. With this programme the participants have even the opportunity to become a surf instructor themselves and teach surfing abroad, meet new people, build a social network and live a healthier life.

I believe that stories can make a powerful difference in the lives of young people. By sharing stories, passion and experiences from athlete sport players, we can inspire youngsters to believe in themselves, set goals and discover the value of teamwork, discipline and perseverance.

For me, being part of the initiative of Sports heroes at school is a great opportunity to give something back and help young people discover the positive impact that sport can have on their lives.
